Pregnancy Update: Week 27

Week 27

Start of the third trimester!

Baby Facts:

  • Baby is 14.8 inches and about 2.5 lbs this week. Food comparisons include head of lettuce and a cucumber.
  • Baby is practicing inhaling and exhaling….amniotic fluid, that is. Strengthen those lungs for your debut, little boy!
  • Baby is showing brain activity! I wonder what you’re thinking about.

Mood/Feeling: I didn’t feel great this week, but attribute that to overcoming a head cold. Pregnancy wise, I’ve been feeling pretty great. Little guy was extremely active this week and I loved every second of it. I’m starting to feel the extra weight – I sometimes find my hands under my bump supporting some of the weight. I’m feeling a little anxious about all the things we have yet to complete. He’ll be here in three months and that doesn’t leave a whole lot of time to get everything ready.

Symptoms: Continued lower back pain, but that’s to be expected, especially with this extra weight. Much like the first trimester, I find myself making *very* frequent stops to the bathroom. Little boy often puts pressure on my bladder.

Sleeping: For the most part, I’m sleeping through the night. I’m not the heavy sleeper I used to be and sometimes his movements will break me out of slumber. I’d say I wake up once or twice a night, but getting back to sleep isn’t too difficult.

Excited About: I’m excited about finally being in the third trimester. I’m so thankful for having an uneventful pregnancy, but if I’m honest, I’m uncomfortable and want my own body back. I also can’t wait to meet my son.

  1. I hear you on wanting your own body back. I’m due March 30th and cannot wait to have my body back and to eat subway and drink unlimited coffee (well, within reason). Sounds like your pregnancy is going well and I hope it remains that way!

    1. It was pretty immediate for me – I entered the third trimester and BOOM instantly uncomfortable. SAME! I told my husband, once I deliver, he’s going to have to go to my favorite deli and grab me a turkey sandwich because it’s been way too long since I could have deli meats. LOL. It is and thank you! I wish the same for you! We’re only a few weeks apart, so we’re going through this mostly together!
