Update: Hi! I’m still here!

Hi!!! How are you? Thanks for hanging around in my absence. You see, in the wee hours of the morning on March 13th, I went into labor. I was 39 weeks and 3 days along. I stood up from bed at 3AM and felt a wet, cold gush. I called my doctor and was told to head to labor and delivery, where I was tested and immediately admitted.

20 hours of labor and 1.5 hours of pushing, my son was born into the world. He was 21 inches long and 8 pounds 4 ounces. Big blue eyes and reddish hair. (We’re still not sure of the color – in the sun it looks red, in the shade it looks darker. We have to wait until more hair grows in.) He had amazing timing seeing as the next day Massachusetts was expecting a huge snow storm. My little family was sitting in the birthing center postpartum recovery room during the storm, watching the snowflakes dance past the window in celebration of my son’s arrival.

Yesterday, little Lion Cub hit one month old. I don’t even know how – I mean, where did the time go?! He now weighs 11 pounds and 2.5 ounces. Pediatrician says he’s averaging an ounce a day where most babies average half an ounce a day. His weight, height, and head circumference are all in the 80th percentile. (His head was 82nd percentile at birth! I deserve a trophy.) He’s such a happy baby! He rarely ever cries, like seriously, I think I’ve heard him cry like five times total in his life. He’s sleeping through the night, with the exception of one feeding every now and again.

I have not had the time to sign in and blog very often, hence this update to let you know I’m still around. When we’re not feeding/diaper changing/tummy timing/etc, I’m staring at his perfect little face, cuddling him close. While I enjoy blogging, I much prefer cuddling my little boy. Don’t worry though, I’m not throwing in the towel, this just means that my posts will be more spread out. This blog is not a day job, it’s a hobby and I shouldn’t feel pressure to keep up a posting schedule. If you want to keep up with me more frequently, consider following on Twitter and Instagram.

In the next month, I hope to have a few more posts for you. I’m using baby products like crazy, so I hope to have some reviews out. I’m currently reading THE MAGIC OF MOTHERHOOD: THE GOOD STUFF, THE HARD STUFF, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN by Ashlee Gad and the writers of Coffee & Crumbs blog, so I hope to have the review up soon, too.

That’s all for now! Thanks for reading! I’ll see you soon!

Awww congrats on your baby! Sounds like it’s been a great first month 🙂 Totally understandable that you’d rather cuddle than blog, I don’t blame you!
